Winter Storms

It's been raining all week here in Southern California. While my house hasn't been affected as badly as say, Long Beach, it did hail today.
The pictures are kind of blurry because it was pretty dark outside (so I had to use a slow shutter), and I was trying to hold an umbrella while taking them. Oh well, you get the idea.
Oddly enough, both Kathy and my mom have the same birthday. We usually celebrate separately, but with the new decade comes new traditions — we celebrated together this year. Happy birthday, mom!

Architect's Archive

Kathy's uncle is an architect, and he stores some of his blueprints at Kathy's grandparents' house. When I was there for Christmas dinner with my camera, I couldn't resist taking some pictures. They look really neat — so organized, but at the same time, so chaotic.
We spent Christmas Eve this year with my family, Christmas with Pete and Heather, and the day after Christmas with Kathy's family. I didn't really take pictures at the family events (too hectic), but I took a few at Christmas dinner.
Shaped bokeh! Kathy and I had read an article on how to do it a while ago, but these were the first pictures using the technique that turned out well.
